The Abyssinian cat is slender and delicate in structure, with long legs. It reaches a height of 40 cm at the withers and a length of 60 cm. Kittens weigh from 2.5 to 4 kg, and cats from 3.5 to 5 kg. Their fur is short, pure-bred Abyssinians lack any patterns.
The so-called "ticking" is typical - each individual hair can have up to three color shades. This effect is also characteristic of the wool of many wild animals, such as, for example, the arctic hare.

Body
The cat is medium-sized and elegant. Body of medium length, strong, flexible, muscular. The legs are sinewy, long and slender. Paws are narrow, oval. The long tail is strong at the base and ends in a tapered tip. The neck is graceful.

The head has a moderate wedge shape and gently rounded contours. Nose of medium length. The profile is slightly bent. The chin is firm.

Ears
The ears are large and widely spaced. They are wide at the base and slightly rounded at the tips. Ear brushes and fingerprint preferred.

Eyes
The eyes are large, shiny and expressive, slightly elongated and widely spaced. The eye color is clean and clear, from amber to green. Green is preferred in silver versions. The prints around the eyes (glasses) have the ticking color in all color variations.

Wool
The coat is short, fine and shiny with a light undercoat, but dense and lies elastically against the body.

Ticking
The "ticking" color effect includes double or, if possible, triple ringing on each individual hair. Ticking should be evenly distributed and without stripes over the entire body. The line along the spine (snake line), the tip of the tail and the soles of the hind legs are painted with a rich ticking color. The chest, belly and inside of the legs are free of ticking and have a matching base color.
